Angel Soup
Caught an
angel
kept her
captive
kept her
captive
in a soup
can—
Campbell’s
soup can
on the
table
by the
bible
by my bed.
My poor
angel
won’t
stop weeping
won’t
stop weeping
in the soup
can—
Campbell’s
soup can
on the
table
by the
bible
by my bed.
My sweet
angel,
cried the
can full
cried the
can full
finally
drowned
in the soup
can—
Campbell’s
soup can
tomato
angel soup can
by my bed.
I saw the sun turn black today; I
tore a hole in my back,
This city is crumbling
Down it goes tumbling,
So I ride on the wings of a bat.
Miss Petulu in scarlet soaked skin,
With absence of insides remaining within,
And hello Doctor Procter with scalpel in hand,
Ready to greet me in la la la land.
And, “silly” you say!
No “nonsense” you
add!
“You phony, fake, fibber”
“You’ve lost it”
“You’re mad!”
So now I’m painting
The walls
Around me white,
To shed light
On the demons
That haunt me
At night.
